Reishi
A double (or dual) extraction is a two-step process of removing different constituents from fungi. Initially mushrooms are soaked in high proof alcohol for at least a month to remove triterpenes, then removed and steeped in hot water to extract the water-soluble beta-glucans.
These Reishi antlers were lovingly grown at home after receiving them as a gift. It was such a pleasure to get to know the live version of this fungal friend after only working with it in tincture and powdered forms. They were tinctured in high proof vodka from the Autumnal equinox to the Winter Solstice of 2021.
